Description

The Financial Analyst is expected to develop a strong understanding of the market and will interact effectively with the Accounting and Finance Teams, in addition to other internal and potentially external customers. This person will examine the competition and industry standards, identifying any specific strategies that the competition is using.

Core Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Communication and Collaboration within Various Departments and Leadership
  • Audit Inbound & Outbound Freight Invoices
  • Develop and Manage Inbound & Outbound Freight Cost Reports
  • Administer Claims Submissions to Carriers
  • Support Request-for-proposal (RFP) Processes

Essential Functions

  • Review, audit, and analyze key financial data.
  • Develop financial models with graphs and charts for executive team presentations.
  • Conduct pricing analysis.
  • Forecast cost savings and cost management.
  • Analyze gross margins.
  • Evaluate freight and shipping costs.
  • Assess product margins and create comparative models.
  • Review costs for offices, showrooms, and distribution centers to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Prepare financial reports on a determined schedule.
  • Present financial reports and estimates to decision makers within the organization.
  • Provide solutions to accounting and finance issues as they arise.
  • Investigate and provide feedback on accounting irregularities.
  • Act as the “voice-of-reason” to ensure good financial decisions are made in the best interest of the company.
  • Reconcile internal transactions by comparing and correcting data.
  • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses.
  • Review and analyze current and past financial performance and identify trends.
  • Develop and implement appropriate tactics for the pricing area to achieve agreed targets and objectives.
  • Audit inbound and outbound freight Invoices including coordinating auditing of the invoices with 3rd party audit firm to ensure that billed rates match contracted rates.
  • Publish weekly, monthly, yearly inbound and outbound freight cost reports including historical costs as well as future projections.
  • Monitor/measure and report performance of programs/contracts to sales teams and management.
  • Identify pricing issues and trends at the early stage and provide recommended solutions.
  • Some ad hoc project work and/or reporting may be required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in business finance, business intelligence or financial areas in manufacturing/consumer goods environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or relevant field is required
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience required.
  • Proven work experience in a quantitatively heavy role.
  • Great Plains software experience preferred.
  • System Database Management experience preferred.
  • Good organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
