Description

As an Individual Music Lesson Teacher at Colorado Academy, you will play a crucial role in enriching the educational experience of our students through personalized and group music instruction. We are a team of passionate and experienced music educators who can provide high-quality, individualized lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels. This assignment will be for at least 12 weeks between the months of August 2024 and January 2025, the schedule is to be finalized but is anticipated to be intermittent. 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Individualized Instruction: Provide private music lessons tailored to the needs, interests, and skill levels of each student.
  • Develop Lesson Plans: Create customized lesson plans that align with students' goals, abilities, and musical interests, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
  • Foster Musical Growth: Inspire students to develop their musical talents, explore new genres/styles, and strive for continuous improvement in technique, expression, and performance skills.
  • Provide Feedback and Assessment: Offer constructive feedback and regular assessments to track student progress, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate achievements. 
  • Prepare Students for Performances: Assist students in preparing for recitals, concerts, competitions, auditions, or other performance opportunities, guiding them in repertoire selection, rehearsal techniques, and stage presence.
  • Communicate with Parents and School Faculty: Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and school faculty regarding students' progress, challenges, and achievements in individual music lessons.
  • Collaborate with Other Music Educators: Coordinate with other music teachers, ensemble directors, and school administrators to support a cohesive and comprehensive music education program.
  • Stay Updated on Music Education Pedagogy: Stay informed about current trends, methodologies, and resources in music education to continually enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.

Expectations:

  • Consistent attendance of all school days. This includes all student contact, professional development and parent/teacher conference days. The school day begins at 7:50 and concludes at 3:50 (if lessons go beyond this time frame, the schedule may adapt, equaling an 8-hour work day or 40 hours per 5-day week).
  • Participation in evening concerts and recitals as it pertains to your teaching area. 
  • Professionalism as it pertains to communications with students and parents. This is done through comments at the end of each trimester as well as communicating with parents and students about recitals, concerts or other performances. 
  • Completes student comments in a timely and thorough manner based on each divisions specific grading/comment deadlines
  • Attends all Music Department meetings throughout the school year and attends a divisional meeting and a full Art Department meeting on professional development days.
  • Communicates absences in a timely manner and requests personal days in advance. Completes the ReadySUB request process, complete with student schedules and lesson plans.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Performance, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or more musical instruments or vocal techniques.
  • Proven experience teaching music lessons to students of various ages and skill levels.
  • Strong understanding of music theory, ear training, and music pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for nurturing students' musical growth and creativity.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and individual student needs.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that values diversity and equity.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with school policies and procedures.

The pay range for the full-time equivalent position is $55,000 - $65,000, this will be prorated based on assignment dates. This is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
