Salary: $95,000-$105,000

Hematologics has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Technologist III/Senior- Molecular Diagnostics to join our team onsite at our laboratory on the Seattle waterfront. This is a dynamic position requiring the ability to provide accurate and precise clinical laboratory services while being able to shift between multiple different duties and roles fluidly. We are seeking a candidate with both strong interpersonal and laboratory skills to be able to work successfully with the Molecular team as well as the other teams in our medical practice. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Nucleic acid isolation from predominantly peripheral blood and bone marrow specimens, using both manual techniques and semi-automated liquid handlers.
  • May routinely prepare, validate and troubleshoot molecular reagents for an array of laboratory developed tests (LDTs).
  • Participate in quality control documentation as well as oversight of assay performance
  • Routinely setting up various assays for gene rearrangements/point mutations/Sanger and Next Generation sequencing (NGS) as well as RQ-PCR.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, data and sequence analysis, and report drafting
  • Communication with supervisor and section director(s) regarding daily workflow and case progression
  • Review SOPs annually and follow SOPs to perform daily clinical workflow
  • Participation in section quality management activities
  • Participate in annual competency assessments.
  • Participate in Proficiency Testing (CAP)
  • Assist the laboratory in maintain compliance with CLIA and CAP requirements with participation in onsite inspections.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, or similar discipline along with at least 6 years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Molecular biology skills with RNA and DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR experience required.
  • Experience working in a clinical oncology laboratory highly preferred.
  • ASCP certification in molecular biology highly preferred.
  • Experience with NGS platforms such as Illumina, Archer, etc.is an advantage for this position.
  • Experience with data analysis in at least one of the following methodologies: Sanger sequencing, fragment analysis, NGS, or RQ-PCR.
  • Experience with new assay development and instrument validation is a plus.
  • Passion for providing high-quality and industry-leading diagnostic services as well as patient care.
  • Works successfully in a team environment
  • Deeply committed to continuous learning and staying abreast of scientific advances
  • Must possess a high level of attention to detail, high-complexity technical and interpersonal skill sets to support an interdisciplinary teamwork setting (flow cytometry, cytogenetics, FISH)
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking skills

Compensation is $95,000-$105,000 dependent on experience
