Enhance visitor experience and engagement at Plymouth’s Old Town Hall by providing exceptional customer service, informative guidance, and assistance to the public during open hours.
Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers in a manner that inspires professionalism, strong communication, team building and alignment with city values.
Responsible for opening and closing the building including setting and arming alarm, ensuring building is clean, orderly and ready for the public.
Maintain knowledge of collections on display and educate the public about Plymouth history.
Assist public in accessing and researching materials in the collections and archives.
Provide reference services, answer inquiries, and guide visitors in using resources effectively.
Assist with general office work such as data entry, phones, email, etc.
Develop and facilitate public programing for a wide range of audiences.
Work on special projects related to either operations of the building or the collections.
Work with computer programs to ensure museum collections are properly documented.
Provide general administrative support and back-up to other staff as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in history, art history, English, or a related field.
A valid Class D driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
Desired Qualifications
Previous experience working with the public, preferably in a museum setting.
Demonstrated flexibility, hospitality, and excellent interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working indoors and indoors and driving city vehicle or personal vehicle to perform essential functions.
