Job Summary

Preeminent is seeking a Part-Time Certified Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll using Paychex Flex Payroll system and ensuring compliance while providing excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll questions and concerns. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, prioritization skills, detail oriented and the ability to work collaboratively with the HR Department.

Responsibilities

  • Process and verify payroll transactions with precision and adherence to established procedures and compliance. 
  • Compare the payroll report to the timekeeping report to identify and correct discrepancies. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as labor laws. 
  • Ensure compliance with voluntary deductions (health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits).
  • Manage timekeeping systems, reviewing and approving employee time entries. 
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and maintain accurate payroll records. 
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to update employee data and benefits information. 
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll regulations and adjust processes accordingly. 
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters with professionalism and accuracy. 
  • Prepare payroll reports and contribute to financial audits when necessary. 
  • Utilize payroll software proficiently to streamline processes and improve efficiency. 
  • Uphold confidentiality and data security standards in handling sensitive payroll information. 

Qualifications

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is required. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. 
  • Proven experience in payroll processing and familiarity with relevant software. 
  • Experience in voluntary deductions including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits. 
  • Strong understanding of tax regulations, labor laws, and compliance requirements. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations. 
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle a high volume of transactions. 
  • Continuous commitment to staying updated on changes in payroll regulations. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving payroll discrepancies. 
  • Discretion and integrity in handling confidential payroll information. 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is preferred.
