Director of Student Account Services
Director of Student Account Services to lead a critical function supporting the financial experience of students across the institution. This role oversees student accounts, billing, receivables, and financial compliance while partnering across departments to ensure a seamless and student-centered process.
About the Role
As the Director, you will oversee all aspects of Student Account Services, including billing, collections, cashiering, and financial aid application to student accounts. You’ll play a key leadership role in ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while driving operational efficiency and an excellent student experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage student accounts, receivables, and cashiering functions
- Oversee billing processes, payment plans, refunds, and collections
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, Title IV, and other federal/state regulations
- Partner closely with Financial Aid, Registrar, and other departments
- Manage and develop staff in a high-volume, student-facing environment
- Review financial reports, reconcile accounts, and ensure accuracy of transactions
- Oversee 1098-T reporting and student account audits
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
- Support a student-centered approach, including handling complex financial situations
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of experience in student accounts or higher education finance
- Leadership experience in a financial or customer service environment
- Strong knowledge of FERPA, financial aid regulations, and compliance requirements
- Experience with systems such as Banner (Ellucian), ECSI, and Touchnet or Nelnet
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across departments and lead through complex challenges
