Robot Controls and Dressout Engineer
Location: Detroit, MI
Pay Rate: $40-50/hour
Type: Long Term Contract Opportunity
We’re looking for an engineer or advanced designer who can support our clients robotics engineering team with CAD design, robot dress packages, and documentation work. This person will help create and maintain detailed drawings that represent robotic systems, including local material additions such as dress packages, air/water assemblies, interface components, and basic cable assemblies.
The role is heavily focused on execution, drawing accuracy, and supporting engineering projects from concept through release. Experience with industrial robotics, controls integration, or automation systems is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain robot system drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD platforms
• Design and document:
  • Robot dress packages
  • Air/water preparation assemblies
  • Cable routing and cable assemblies
  • Pneumatic and interface packages
• Update and release engineering documentation and BOMs
• Support robot configuration and integration activities
• Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are accurate and buildable
• Assist with part number management and BOM structure maintenance
• Support troubleshooting, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Experience

• 2 years of experience in CAD design for industrial automation, robotics, or mechanical systems
• Strong experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software)
• Ability to create and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and interface drawings
• Understanding of industrial robotic systems and peripheral equipment
• Experience supporting engineering documentation and BOM creation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with robotic dressout systems and controls integration
• Familiarity with industrial automation environments
• Basic understanding of PLCs or electrical interfaces
• Exposure to ERP systems and engineering release processes
