Hydromat Set Up & Operator Shift: 1st Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm 
Location: Carpentersville, IL 
Type: Contract-to-hire
Pay: $20-23/hour Overview

This role focuses on setting up and operating Hydromat rotary transfer machines in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will handle multi-spindle bar stock equipment, maintain tight tolerances, and support continuous production. This position requires 2 years of Hydromat setup experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work on your feet for 8 hours per shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multi-spindle bar stock / Hydromat equipment
• Adjust tooling, tool holders, stops, collets, and ejectors across multiple stations
• Use pre-setters to change drills, cutters, and tooling components
• Maintain oil levels and ensure proper machine function across production runs
• Read and interpret drawings, shop orders, and manuals to meet tolerance requirements
• Use precision tools (micrometers, calipers) to verify part quality
• Identify tooling or material issues and escalate to supervisor as needed
• Recommend process improvements to reduce cycle time or improve output
• Support new part setups and assist with equipment brought into production
• Perform daily preventive maintenance on machines
• Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 years Hydromat setup experience (required)
• Experience with rotary transfer or multi-spindle machines
• Ability to read measurements and work with precision instruments
• Mechanical troubleshooting skills in a production environment
• Ability to think critically and resolve machining issues in real time
• Ability to lift 25–50 lbs regularly
• Ability to stand 8 hours per shift
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
