CNC Setup Technician

Job Title: CNC Machinist Set-Up Technician
Location: Butler, NJ
Pay Rate: $25–$30/hour

Job Summary:
This role focuses on setting up CNC machines for production in a safe, productive, and high-quality manner. The primary goal is to achieve acceptable first piece inspections while supporting the production process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create, edit, and manage CNC machine programs

• Read and interpret engineering drawings for accurate setups

• Lay out all tooling and gages at CNC machines

• Upload previous job programs and download new programs to CNC machines

• Install tooling into CNC machine turret tool positions

• Touch off tools and update programs with correct tool positions

• Troubleshoot CNC machine issues as needed

• Assist and guide CNC Operators

• Inspect parts using calipers, visual comparators, eye loops, and other instruments to ensure accuracy and quality

• Perform visual inspections for burrs, chamfers, surface finish, and other specifications per engineering prints

• Follow all safety and environmental policies and procedures

• Change tools and make machine adjustments and offsets as necessary

• Communicate problems and suggest solutions

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience setting up CNC machines

• Experience specifically with turning lathes (no milling or general machine operator experience)

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Mechanically inclined and comfortable with machine setups

• Proficient with tools and measuring equipment
