Position Overview
The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) will support the IRS Modernized e-File platform, a mission-critical system used for electronically filing tax returns. Theplatform utilizes a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and provides web services for external filers as well as internal IRS applications for processing returns.
The DBA will be responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and availability of Oracle databases supporting the platform, ensuring reliable operations and efficient data access for users and downstream systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related user issues (~50%)
- Ensure proper functioning of:
- Storage
- Archiving
- Backup and recovery processes (~20%)
- Monitor database performance and manage system parameters (~10%)
- Manage database users, roles, permissions, and access controls (~10%)
- Maintain and update database documentation (~10%)
- Support data import/export activities
- Assist with database tuning and optimization
- Maintain data models (logical and physical)
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of Oracle database administration (Oracle 19c preferred)
- 10 years of database account and schema creation and maintenance
- 7 years of database performance tuning using:
- AWR
- ADDM
- Statspack reports
- 6 years of:
- Unix/Linux shell scripting
- Data import/export (Data Pump, etc.)
- Oracle GoldenGate installation and configuration
- 5 years of data modeling experience:
- Logical and Physical Data Models
- ERWin or similar tools
- Oracle Database 19c (installation, backup, recovery)
- SQL performance tuning and optimization
- Unix/Linux environments
- Database security and access management
- Data replication (GoldenGate)
- Data modeling tools (ERWin preferred)
- Microsoft Excel and Word
- Engineering Workflow Management (EWM / RTC)
- Familiarity with CMMI Level 3 processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Knowledge of table and index partitioning
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or government systems
