About the Company
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the nursing team at our dual-diagnosis inpatient behavioral health treatment center. The ideal candidate will have prior Director of Nursing (DON) or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) experience in a behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment setting. This leader will oversee nursing operations, ensure regulatory compliance, support quality patient care, and foster a collaborative, patient-centered culture.
About the Role
The Director of Nursing (DON) will be responsible for leading the nursing team and ensuring high-quality patient care in a dual-diagnosis inpatient behavioral health treatment center.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all nursing operations and clinical staff.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, Joint Commission, and organizational standards.
- Recruit, mentor, schedule, and evaluate nursing team members.
- Collaborate with medical providers, clinical leadership, and operations to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Oversee medication management, documentation, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor staffing levels, productivity, and departmental performance.
- Promote a safe, therapeutic environment for patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the applicable state.
- Previous DON or ADON experience in a behavioral health, psychiatric, or substance abuse treatment setting is required.
- Strong knowledge of inpatient behavioral health nursing operations and regulatory requirements.
- Proven leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
- Experience with accreditation standards (Joint Commission/CARF) is preferred.
