What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swimming Instructor position at YMCA of Harrison County?
Job Summary:
We are seeking dedicated and responsible individuals to join our team as a Swim Instructor at the YMCA. Swim Instructors play a crucial role in teaching individuals how to swim of all ages. This position requires strong swimming skills, quick decision-making abilities, excellent communication skills, and the commitment to always be in an appropriate uniform.
Job Duties:
1. Instruct swimming lessons as assigned, & prepares lesson plans accordingly.
2. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations & procedures, including emergency & safety procedures.
3. Conveys information on aquatics programs & schedules &, as appropriate, refers members & participants to other programs
4. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.). Completes incident & accident reports as necessary.
5. Organizes & puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment
6. Trains & supervises class aides as assigned.
7. Attends staff meetings & trainings as scheduled.
Additional Expectations:
1. Maintain a neat & professional appearance at all times & safely supervise activities.
2. Be able to articulate the mission to all staff, members & participants.
3. Monitors the safety & well-being of participants & guests.
4. Develop positive relationships with members & participants; provide motivation & guidance.
5. Encourages member & parent involvement & identifies potential volunteers.
6. Provides excellent service to members, guests, & program participants in person, on the phone & via email.
7. Assists with training of new Swim Instructors.
8. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations & procedures, including emergency & safety procedures.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum age of 18 years old.
2. Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
3. YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent. (if not already acquired we will arrange for certification.)
4. Certification requirements(within 30 days of hire): CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens;
Schedule:
Our current schedule is Tuesday and Thursday with a start time of 5:00pm for the first lesson.
