What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kids Zone Attendant position at YMCA of Harrison County?
Position Summary:
This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living & social responsibility. This person provides high-quality supervision for children of YMCA members in a positive environment that is safe & enjoyable, & is focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, & caring. Kids Zone is open in the morning (8:30 am - 12pm) & evening (4:00pm - 7:30pm) during the week and Saturdays (9am - 12pm). Seeking an individual for AM shift availability.
Job Duties:
1. Supervises a group of children while staying actively engaged.
2. May plan & implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate & consistent with YMCA core values.
3. Maintains positive relations with parents & other staff.
4. Adheres to program standards, including safety & cleanliness standards.
5. Attend staff meetings & trainings.
6. Follows YMCA policies & procedures, including those related to medical & disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention & emergencies.
Additional Expectations:
7. Maintain a neat & professional appearance at all times.
8. Be able to articulate the mission to all staff, members & participants.
9. Monitors the safety & well-being of participants & guests.
10. Organizes & puts away needed class equipment. Report any damaged equipment.
11. Assists with training new Kids Zone Attendants.
12. Fosters a climate of innovation & resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.

Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 16 years of age
2. Previous experience working with children
3. Certification requirements (within 30 days of hire): CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; Child Abuse Prevention
4. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Visual, auditory, & verbal ability to communicate effectively. Must have a high level of alertness, concentration, & initiative. Sufficient strength, agility, & mobility to perform the job. Ability to lift equipment, & to lift a small to average-sized child. Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, & squat for a period of time.
