As a Teacher Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting scholars on their journey—helping them grow, build friendships, and experience success in the classroom and beyond.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Teacher Assistants support Lead Teachers in delivering engaging academic instruction and enrichment experiences. They assist with classroom management, provide individualized scholar support, and help create a positive, welcoming environment where all scholars feel valued and encouraged to succeed. Teacher Assistants may include educators, college students, aspiring teachers, or community members who are passionate about youth development and education.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Power Scholars Academy is a summer learning program designed to support scholars who may benefit from additional academic support in reading and math. The program focuses on closing learning gaps while fostering confidence, curiosity, and joy in learning. Through a combination of high-quality academic instruction and hands-on enrichment, scholars develop the skills, relationships, and experiences that support their long-term success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scholar Support & Instruction
- Assist Lead Teachers with daily classroom instruction and lesson implementation.
- Provide individualized and small-group academic support to scholars.
- Support scholars in building confidence, curiosity, and positive learning habits.
Learning Environment
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Support positive classroom management strategies that promote respect and responsibility.
- Serve as a positive role model for scholars throughout the program.
Program Activities
- Support implementation of the Scholastic/BellXcel curriculum.
- Assist with enrichment activities such as STEM, arts, fitness, leadership development, and cultural learning experiences.
- Supervise scholars during transitions, snacks, and activities.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with teachers, enrichment instructors, and program staff.
- Communicate scholar progress, needs, and successes with the teaching team.
- Assist with special events, field trips, and family engagement opportunities.
Program Operations
- Assist with daily attendance and classroom documentation using the Arly platform.
- Help maintain organized classroom routines and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Strong academic skills in elementary or middle school math and literacy.
· Passion for supporting youth and helping them succeed.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to build positive relationships with scholars, families, and staff.
· Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and professionalism.
· Commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive spaces for all scholars.

Preferred:
· Experience working with youth in educational, camp, or enrichment settings.
· Current college student or aspiring educator.
