POSITION SUMMARY:
Lead Teachers are New Hampshire certified educators responsible for delivering the Power Scholars Academy summer curriculum. Teachers provide engaging academic instruction in reading and math while fostering a structured, supportive learning environment that promotes student growth, confidence, and achievement. Lead Teachers collaborate with Teacher Assistants and program staff to support scholars academically and socially while maintaining high expectations for learning and behavior.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Power Scholars Academy is a summer learning program designed to help students who may benefit from additional support in reading and/or mathematics.
The program focuses on:
- Strengthening academic skills
- Building student confidence and motivation
- Supporting youth development and long-term academic success
- Creating an engaging learning community where scholars feel supported and valued
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Valid New Hampshire teaching certification (Elementary or Middle School – literacy or mathematics)
- Minimum two years of teaching experience with elementary or middle school students (K–8)
- Experience using data-driven instructional practices to inform teaching
- Experience integrating technology for instruction and assessment
- Knowledge of differentiated instructional strategies
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging, student-centered learning environments
- Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to educational equity and supporting all learners
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and program staff
- Passion for helping scholars grow academically and personally

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Teachers will:
- Implement the Power Scholars Academy literacy and math curriculum aligned with academic standards
- Develop and deliver engaging daily lesson plans aligned with program learning objectives
- Use assessment data to guide instruction and adjust teaching strategies
- Utilize Scholastic/BellXcel curriculum to support lesson planning and instruction
- Create a structured, positive classroom environment that promotes achievement and engagement
- Maintain an organized and effective learning space
- Encourage scholars to set goals and work toward academic success
- Foster positive behavior through supportive and consistent classroom management strategies
- Collaborate with Teacher Assistants using co-teaching and collaborative instructional strategies
- Serve as a positive role model for scholars
- Communicate effectively with scholars, families, and program staff through the Arly platform
- Maintain compliance with all program and district professional standards and training requirements
