Camp Ernst Ropes Course Specialist - YMCA Camp Ernst

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate high and low ropes elements according to training and operating procedures.
• Assist in inspecting all equipment and elements of the ropes courses before use at the beginning of the day and after use at the end of the day. Assist in daily set-up and take down of ropes course equipment.
• Document daily all assigned equipment checks, element checks, facility checks and safety checks in the ropes log. Assist in tracking person and equipment use in ropes log daily.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order of ropes course area and equipment. Assist in tracking inventory and notify Ropes Course Coordinator or Program Director of any equipment needs or repairs.
• Train both campers and staff in the philosophy, skills, activities, and safety procedures of high and low rope courses. Lead ground school training to all participants and verify participants proper use of equipment prior to allowing them to enter the course. Guide group discussions and debriefing activities for high and low ropes course.
• Serve as a positive role model, working effectively with all individuals, helping campers and staff reach their ABR goals. Actively support campers/staff during rotations. Report concerns to administrative staff.
• Adhere to established association standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to complete and retain high and low ropes course training safety procedures. CPR/First Aid training required. Complete all YMCA required trainings.
• Ability to work at heights, climb up and down a frame/vertical ladder and pull self and another person across course.
• Must possess good verbal communication skills for commands and attention to detail
