What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Ernst High Ropes Course Coordinator position at YMCA of Greater Cincinnati?
The High Ropes Course Coordinator Provides leadership for the ropes course program while supervising staff and supporting campers in a safe, engaging camp environment. This role helps campers and staff build confidence and achievement through challenge course activities while fostering positive relationships and a strong sense of belonging within the camp community.
Key Responsibilities:
· Train, supervise, and support seasonal staff by providing coaching, feedback, and ongoing development to build strong teamwork, achievement, and a positive camp culture.
· Lead the safe operation of high and low ropes course elements, including daily equipment inspections, safety checks, documentation, and proper use of all gear and facilities.
· Teach and facilitate ropes course philosophy, safety procedures, and challenge activities that promote teamwork, confidence, personal growth, and a sense of belonging among campers and staff.
· Plan and coordinate unit schedules, activities, and staffing assignments while ensuring engaging, developmentally appropriate programming and adherence to YMCA and ACA standards.
· Actively supervise campers and staff, support positive group dynamics, and encourage character development, teamwork, and meaningful relationships within the camp community.
· Monitor program areas, maintain equipment and supplies, and ensure all activity spaces remain safe, organized, and ready for daily camp operations.
· Provide guidance and support to campers and staff by addressing concerns, recognizing achievements, reinforcing appropriate behavior, and communicating issues to camp leadership when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent required.
· Experience working with youth in camp, outdoor recreation, or similar settings preferred.
· Experience with ropes course facilitation or challenge course programming preferred.
· Proven strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills with the ability to build positive relationships with staff and campers.
· Ability to work in and outdoor environment and participate in physically active programming.
· Ability to work at heights, climb up and down a frame/vertical ladder and pull self and another person across course.
· First Aid/CPR certification required or ability to obtain.
