POSITION SUMMARY: The primary function of this position is to assist the Wellness/Diabetes Program Manager and in the Daily Functions of the YPT Wellness Center. He/she will assist with a variety of physical/recreational activities in the Tribal Gym and Wellness Center for youth and adults.
DUTIES:
- Promote physical fitness as a method to prevent and/or control diabetes for the Tribal community.
- Assist with special events to promote awareness of diabetes prevention and control.
- Assist with community challenges to increase participation in physical activity.
- Collaborate with Wellness/Diabetes Program Manager to refer participants to the Wellness Center.
- Maintain participation logs, and ensure that everyone is signing in/out of the wellness center.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in the Wellness Center and Gym (equipment and facility).
- Clean and Sanitize All Designated Wellness Center Areas
- Maintain the safety of participants in the Gym and Wellness Center.
- Enforce established rules of conduct.
- Attend training as assigned by supervisor to expand knowledge base and skill level, especially as related to the connection between physical activity and diabetes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma, GED or currently enrolled in High School.
- Must be 18 Years of Age
- Must have experience as a personal fitness trainer, sports, coaching, athletics, or other physical activity required.
- Able to work evenings until 9:00pm or Early Morning 6:00am and weekends.
- Must be able to get CPR and First Aid certification within 3 months of hire.
- Excellent people skill and high regard for confidentiality.
- Must have good time management skills and be able to complete tasks assigned in a timely manner.
- Good writing and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Possess a valid Nevada Driver’s License.
- Pass Pre-Employment drug screen and complete background investigation.
- Able to lift 40 lbs.
