About the Role
The Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements for an assigned portfolio of properties
- Complete month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting workpapers
- Develop annual property budgets and forecasts
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide meaningful financial insights
- Partner with property management and operations teams on financial reporting
- Assist with year-end audit and tax support
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2 years of residential or commercial property accounting experience
- Experience preparing monthly financial statements
- Experience managing the accounting for multiple properties
- Experience with Yardi, MRI, or another property management ERP system
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
