What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Specialist position at Xcellerant Ventures?
Tribal Health is growing, and we’re looking for a relationship-driven Business Development Manager to help us expand our impact in rural, Tribal, and Indigenous healthcare communities.
This is not a traditional sales role. It’s a role for someone who knows how to listen first, build trust over time, and represent an organization with humility, integrity, and follow-through.
Tribal Health partners with rural hospitals, Indian Health Service facilities, Tribal 638 facilities, and other healthcare systems to deliver staffing, practice management, consulting, and clinical solutions designed for underserved communities. Our work is grounded in culturally respectful care, community voice, and long-term healthcare improvement.
What you’ll doIn this role, you will identify and develop new partnerships with healthcare facilities, Tribal leaders, administrators, and community stakeholders. You’ll spend significant time in the field, including weekly travel to remote areas, where relationships are built face-to-face and trust is earned through consistency.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with healthcare leaders in rural, Tribal, and Indigenous communities
- Identifying new business opportunities aligned with Tribal Health’s mission and services
- Representing Tribal Health with professionalism, cultural respect, and integrity
- Understanding each community’s needs, challenges, and priorities before proposing solutions
- Partnering with internal clinical, operations, staffing, and leadership teams to support client success
- Managing a pipeline of opportunities and following through on commitments
- Traveling weekly to remote communities, facilities, conferences, and partner meetings
The right person for this role is resilient, grounded, and comfortable doing meaningful work in places that may be hard to reach. You should be able to navigate long travel days, changing schedules, complex healthcare environments, and conversations that require patience and respect.
You’ll be a strong fit if you bring:
- Business development, account management, healthcare sales, or partnership development experience
- Strong relationship-building skills and a service-first mindset
- High integrity and excellent follow-through
- Resilience, adaptability, and comfort with regular travel to remote areas
- Humility and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse communities
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen deeply and communicate clearly
- Experience in healthcare, staffing, Tribal health, rural health, IHS, or federal healthcare environments preferred
- Previous experience working respectfully with Indigenous people, Tribal Nations, or Native communities strongly preferred
Many rural and Indigenous communities face serious healthcare access challenges. This role helps connect those communities with solutions that support stronger facilities, healthier communities, and better patient care.
We’re looking for someone who understands that trust comes before business, relationships come before transactions, and humility is essential to doing this work well.
