Import/Export AgentLocated: Compton, CA 90220Full-Time | Onsite | Temp-to-HireSchedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PMCompensation: $25.00–$30.00 per hour (DOE)About the RoleA leading global logistics solutions and freight services organization is seeking a detail-driven Import/Export Agent to serve as the primary interface between internal teams, customers, overseas partners, operations, and vendors. This position ensures high-quality customer service while maintaining compliance with industry regulations, transportation requirements, and company procedures. The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, and experienced in coordinating both air and ocean freight shipments.Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer & Partner CommunicationServe as the main point of contact between customers, operations, vendors, and international partners.Answer inbound calls professionally and promptly.Respond to customer and partner emails in a timely, accurate manner.Provide quotes to customers and overseas agents.Shipment Coordination & DispatchDispatch shipments and ensure vendors are aware of cutoffs and special instructions.Book ocean freight with co-loaders and ocean carriers.Coordinate with customs brokers, importers, and customers for inbound shipments.Label air and ocean shipments accurately.Process Dangerous Goods (DG) shipments, including required checklists.Documentation & ComplianceFile AES declarations.Accurately enter pickup and quote details into database.Maintain understanding and compliance with TSA regulations.Ensure knowledge of POA, customs brokerage regulations, delivery orders (DO), and ISF requirements.Tracking, Updates & ReportingTrack and trace shipments from origin to destination.Communicate shipment updates, issues, and milestones to customers, brokers, and sales teams.Record and update tracking notes and statuses in the system.Close out and bill shipments in a timely manner.Operational SupportComplete assigned accounts and projects as directed by International Managers.Maintain punctual clock-in/clock-out procedures, including lunch and break schedules.Participate in weekend on-call rotations or overtime assignments as needed.Perform other duties as required to support international operations.Skills & Competencies / RequirementsMinimum 3 years of export experience and high school diplomaStrong knowledge of Ocean freight (Air experience is a plus; training provided)Proficiency in basic computer applications including Microsoft Office and typing 35 wpm Experience with CFS (container freight) stations, truck dispatch & providing service quotesStrong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to calculate chargeable weight and shipment volume.DG certification required for handling hazardous materials shipments.Knowledge of airline regulations including oversize cargo and banding requirements.Familiarity with POA, customs brokerage processes, DO, and ISF requirements.Work with a sense of urgency, understanding how to prioritize.Company DescriptionOur Professional Division works with clients as a stakeholder in their hiring strategy and process.
