Team Member Litter

Purpose:  The Environmental Services Team Member – Litter is responsible for providing litter patrol and environmental services in assigned areas. This position performs routine cleaning, litter collection, waste removal, and related duties to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.

The Team Member works independently and as part of a team while following established procedures, safety requirements, work schedules, and quality standards. The position may also assist individuals with disabilities with assigned activities and duties, as appropriate.

Regular attendance is a most important job requirement and an essential function of this position.

Basic Task List:

1. Provide litter patrol services in assigned areas
2. Pick up litter and debris using appropriate hand tools or by hand when appropriate
3. Carry bags, trash receptacles, collection tools, and other equipment used in litter patrol activities
4. Collect and remove waste, garbage and debris from assigned areas
5. Load and unload trash and debris using appropriate procedures and equipment
6. Monitor assigned areas and communicate the need for additional supplies or materials
7. Follow checklists/task lists, work schedules, and procedures
8. Assist clients with assigned activities/duties/needs
9. Perform quality checks during work performance and upon work completion
10. Perform preventive maintenance prior to use of equipment and to use equipment appropriately.
11. Maintain a safe, clean and healthy work environment

Secondary Duties:

1. Must attend staff development and/or work training programs as assigned

Education

1. High school diploma/GED preferred
2. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

Experience

1. Previous experience in environmental services, custodial services, grounds maintenance, litter patrol, or related service work is preferred
2. Experience working as part of a team is preferred

Physical and Working Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

1. Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting
2. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling items weighing 15 lbs. or more
3. Extended periods of standing and walking during the workday
4. Working outdoors and in varying weather conditions
5. Repetitive physical activities associated with litter collection and waste removal
6. Following appropriate safety procedures when handling litter, waste, equipment, and materials
7. The position may require the individual to lift, carry, load items weighing 15 lbs. or more, frequently.
