Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Director of Field Operations to lead the acquisition, planning, and delivery of federal construction contracts. This senior leadership role will oversee all aspects of field construction management, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with federal standards and client expectations.
The Director will manage large-scale, multi-million-dollar federal infrastructure projects, lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with government inspectors, and drive operational excellence across the organization. This is a strategic, hands-on position reporting to the Vice President, with significant influence on company growth, safety, and client success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across all field construction operations for federal projects.
- Oversee daily operations of construction teams and ensure project milestones are met.
- Monitor and control project budgets, forecasts, revenue tracking, and cost estimates.
- Manage field personnel, contractors, vendors, and subcontractors across multiple job sites.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
- Interface with federal agencies, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
- Partner with project management and design teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Lead resource planning, procurement coordination, and site mobilization.
- Identify and resolve construction-related challenges quickly and effectively.
- Drive initiatives related to staff development, process improvement, and operational KPIs.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, risk assessments, and project evaluations.
- Ensure proper documentation, contracts, change orders, and approvals are maintained.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
(Relevant experience may be substituted 1:1 for education)
- 10 years of construction management experience,
- Proven leadership in federal construction projects with multiple active job sites.
- Demonstrated success managing teams, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Deep understanding of construction drawings, specs, codes, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with project scheduling and financial tools.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, PE, or similar certifications.
- Prior experience working with or for federal agencies.
- Active involvement in industry organizations and a strong contractor/supplier network.
- Familiarity with win-loss analysis and federal bid processes.
