Position Summary
The Finance Office Assistant is responsible for receiving and recording all incoming payments, and maintaining accurate receipt logs and related documentation—including scholarship checks. This position plays a key role in supporting the College’s cash‑receipts processes through strong internal controls, timely communication with Accounting and the Bursar, and excellent customer service at the front counter.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Receipting & Deposits
- Serve as the frontline cashier for student bursar accounts, receiving and accurately recording all payments.
- Issue receipts and maintain daily balancing of cash, checks, and electronic payments.
- Maintain receipt logs and submit complete documentation to the Finance Support Specialist for posting
Collaboration & Communication
- Provide professional, customer‑focused service to students, families, and campus departments.
- Coordinate with the Bursar and Accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate submission of cash‑receipts documentation.
- Assist the Bursar with student‑facing presentations or other outreach as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience handling payments in a cashiering or point‑of‑sale (POS) environment.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to internal control expectations.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and professionalism in a front‑facing role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cashiering or customer‑service experience in a higher education or nonprofit institution.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
