POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Mathematics Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
All applicants must be licensed or qualified for licensure by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Secondary Mathematics.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Implement and periodically update a course of study based upon the
Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks/Common Core Standards.
2.Maintain all records necessary for reporting student grades, performance
and the documentation of student competencies.
3.Prepare lesson plans at least two weeks in advance.
4.Establish and enforce a disciplinary code consistent with the student handbook which reinforces a professional atmosphere.
5.Maintain and update a department inventory.
6.Utilize assessment data to drive instruction and support student learning.
7.Utilize data from state tests and Whittier tests to address areas of weakness during both in-school and after-school tutoring.
8.Establish and maintain a tutoring schedule for all students who have not passed MCAS, are in danger of failing Mathematics, or those students who request tutoring.
9.Provide students with the necessary grade-level 21st century mathematics skills essential for both college and career readiness.
10.Responsible for meeting all administrative deadlines.
11.Maintain the condition of the classroom facilities.
12.Support efforts outlined in the School Improvement Plan.
13.Implement the inclusion model of education and work to promote achievement by all students.
14.Implement and support the Whittier Tech iPad/Technology Initiative.
15.Involve and communicate regularly with parents in their child’s academic activities and performance.
16.Establish and maintain a stimulating, attractive environment for learning using varied techniques.
17.Incorporate standards based teaching strategies in the classroom.
18.Actively collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community.
19.Follow procedures that have been established for the health and safety of all students.
20.Perform all duties and functions as deemed necessary by the Superintendent, Administration and his/her designee.
10 month position
Salary according to the Teacher Contract - FY27 Salary Schedule (Range from $64,472 - $118,996 - depending on experience, licensure & degree/credits)
