TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL:
1) To coordinate the student discipline program and to assist the Principal in all related items, such as attendance, dismissals and tardies.
2) To assist in the overall administration of the school in order to provide the best educational programs and services.
3) To advise the Principal concerning the development, implementation, and evaluation of school policies, programs, services, and needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of professional and paraprofessional staff under his jurisdiction.
2) Monitors and coordinates the student discipline program in accordance with due process rights of students and deals with special cases as necessary.
3) Assists the Principal in the development and implementation of the school budget.
4) Assumes a leadership role in the development of programs and assists the Curriculum Coordinator in coordinating, developing, and assessing curriculum.
5) Assists the Principal in the development and implementation of a comprehensive staff development program in order to improve instruction.
6) Actively participates in community and school-sponsored events in order to continuously improve school-community relations.
7) Prepares all reports the Principal may request concerning any aspect of the school's operation.
8) Attends School Committee meetings when requested to participate in presentations concerning the operation of the school.
9) Assists the Curriculum Coordinators in establishing and maintaining an accurate inventory of all textbooks, equipment, and materials by department.
10) Prepares student and staff schedules and coordinates computerized grade reporting and enrollment/attendance reporting systems.
11) Assists the Principal in conducting needs assessments and evaluating the processes and products of instruction in order to improve instruction.
12) Coordinates selected school activity programs.
13) Supervises and coordinates the activities of the Curriculum Coordinator.
14) Serves as Principal in the absence of the Principal.
15) Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in order to achieve school objectives.
16) Assists the Principal in the administration of the Summer School Program.
17) Attends all meetings of the Instructional Advisory Council and the Faculty and, in certain instances, conducts these and other staff meetings as a representative of the Principal.
18) Calls substitutes and follows through on assignments and record keeping.
19) Performs all other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the Principal may assign from time to time.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Per Collective Bargaining Agreement (Unit B Administrators)
