The Luce Elementary School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as the assistant principal for the upcoming school year beginning in July 1, 2026 The assistant principal will join a vibrant and supportive team that places a high priority on collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and commitment to the goals of the District and to our students, families and staff.

JOB SUMMARY
The Elementary Assistant Principal works in collaboration with the Building Principal and Team Chair to support the teaching and learning of students, ensure the health and safety of the school community, and foster a positive school and community environment. The Elementary Assistant Principal has a shared responsibility for supervision and evaluation of staff, scheduling, MCAS administration, instructional leadership, daily school operations, and student accountability.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote a positive climate for learning and actively works to create an inclusive and safe environment that allows all members of the school community to focus on learning
- Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to educational equity and instructional excellence
- Advocate and drive the school and district mission, vision, and strategic direction
- Lead or collaborate with others on curricular, instructional and assessment initiatives
- Work closely with Team Chair and other members of Student Services
- Support the Principal in the building of the master and duty schedule
- Lead and support restorative practices
- Lead and/or participate in student involved investigations including student discipline, bullying, Harassment, Civil Rights, Title IX, and Title VI
- Supervise and evaluate teaching staff and other building staff as assigned, in accordance with the district’s evaluation plan
- Facilitate yearly MCAS Administration
- Participate and/or supports the facilitation of the ILT (instructional leadership team), ALT (Academic Leadership Team) and SST/SRT (Student Support/Response Team)
- Collaborate with the school and district staff in facilitating data-driven analysis and discussions regarding student performance
- Support and/or facilitates building based professional learning and faculty meetings to foster a culture of collaboration and commitment to all students
- Supervise school wide events and daily operations, as assigned
- Maintain positive and professional communication with students, staff, parents/guardians and the community
- Work with parents/guardians and the community to create and foster active involvement within the school community in support of students
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team
- Act on behalf of the Principal in the Principal’s absence when instructed to do so
- Perform other duties specifically articulated within the collective bargaining agreement as assigned by building principal and/or District administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree (required); Master’s Degree (preferred)
- Massachusetts DESE Assistant/Principal PreK-8 Certification
- A minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred
- Experience working in an administrative role with supervisory responsibilities preferred
- Proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to: administrators, parents/guardians, teachers, students, other school staff and visitors
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Well-organized with excellent leadership abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
- Working knowledge of relevant technologies: internet and email systems; word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software; and educational software
- Employment based on successful completion of CORI and fingerprinting background check
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable

WORK YEAR: 210 days
COMPENSATION: Per the Union A Collective Barginning Agreement, specifically Appendix H Salary Range $105,000-$115,000
