Whitman Advisory is assisting one of our client firms in hiring a Staff Accountant to join their team in Middletown, Delaware.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Arrangement: Hybrid | Monday–Thursday in office
Compensation: $60,000–$80,000 annually, plus bonus and benefits
Onboarding Bonus: $7,500 total
• 50% paid after 30 days
• 50% paid after 18 months
This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional with public accounting experience who enjoys working directly with clients and supporting a variety of accounting, tax, payroll, and financial reporting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Post accounting transactions and maintain accurate client records
• Perform bank reconciliations and review account activity
• Prepare payroll tax returns, including Forms 941, UC-8, W-2, and 1099
• Assist with draft financial statements and supporting workpapers
• Prepare adjusting journal entries and investment-related entries
• Support budgeting and budget reporting
• Assist clients with QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online
• Support tax preparation and related client service needs
• Maintain organized documentation and ensure timely completion of assigned work
Qualifications:
• Prior public accounting experience preferred
• Experience with QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online preferred
• UltraTax experience is a plus
• Payroll tax experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-service environment
• Comfortable using cloud-based and technology-forward accounting systems
• Ability to work approximately 35–50 hours per week during peak season
