Business Development Manager $165k-$170k

Whitman Legal Resources is representing a mid-size law firm in Midtown Manhattan in its search for a Business Development Manager.

The ideal candidate will bring 5–10 years of legal marketing and business development experience within a law firm environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute strategic business plans for individual attorneys, practice groups, and industry groups in alignment with firmwide goals.
• Partner closely with attorneys to support the execution of business development plans, provide coaching, and advise partners on best practices for building their personal brands and professional networks.
• Lead the development of proposals, pitches, RFP responses, and presentations that effectively showcase attorney and firm capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen existing client and referral relationships while supporting cross-selling initiatives across the firm.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify new client leads, referral sources, and business opportunities.
• Collaborate with the marketing team on events, webinars, directory submissions, client alerts, and other thought leadership initiatives.
• Support the integration of lateral attorneys by developing targeted client and referral relationship plans.
• Manage business development budgets and evaluate ROI for marketing and business development initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5–10 years of marketing and business development experience within the legal industry.
• Strong understanding of law firm marketing standards and business development best practices.
• Experience with content management software; DNN experience is a plus.
• Experience with contact management software; Interaction experience is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong professional references.

Compensation: $165,000–$170,000
