Bookkeeper – Public Accounting Firm
Location: Red Bank, NJ (100% Onsite, Monday–Friday)
Job Type: Full-time
Whitman Advisory is partnering with a well-established public accounting firm in Red Bank, New Jersey, to recruit a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent technical skills, and a desire to work in a collaborative, client-focused environment.
Schedule
- Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Minimum: 37.5 hours per week
- Overtime: As needed, based on firm and client needs
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple clients
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Perform bank reconciliations and account analysis to ensure accuracy
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Assist with period-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage and organize client documents and support schedules
- Prepare payroll tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations
- Handle sales and use tax and other tax compliance filings as required
- Communicate directly with clients to resolve accounting, reconciliation, and documentation issues
- Ensure all work aligns with GAAP standards and firm policies
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting (public accounting experience preferred)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (required)
- Proven experience supporting:
- Individuals
- Partnerships
- Corporations
- Trusts
- Mid-sized businesses
- Strong understanding of:
- Debits and credits
- Account reconciliation
- Payroll processing
Technical Skills
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop (minimum 3 years)
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Comfortable working with multiple client files and systems
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and research skills
