Cost Accountant

Join a well-established food manufacturing organization as a Cost Accountant, supporting finance operations in a dynamic production environment. This role is responsible for managing cost accounting processes, analyzing manufacturing costs, and driving efficiency across multiple facilities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in standard costing, inventory controls, and variance analysis within a manufacturing setting.

Job Function

• Maintain and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual cost accounting close processes
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead) and provide actionable insights
• Partner with operations to improve cost efficiency and reduce waste
• Monitor inventory transactions, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to cost of goods sold (COGS)
• Prepare detailed cost reports and financial analysis for leadership
• Ensure accuracy of cost data within ERP systems
• Assist with internal and external audits as needed
• Identify and implement process improvements within cost accounting functions
  
  
  

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–7 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in food manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of standard costing and variance analysis
• Experience with Sage X3 or other ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally
