Primary Function
The Financial Counselor assists uninsured and underinsured patients with access to health services through assessing eligibility and assisting with enrollment in a variety of internal and external assistance programming as well as state sponsored benefit programs.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities
Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Minimum Work Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with post high school secretarial and/or business courses, and/or previous medical office experience.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Employee is expected to keep abreast of current techniques specific to medical offices, which relate to his/her job and medical offices in general. This is especially important in the areas of insurance coverage and claims, patient flow, scheduling, assuring correct patient information, and handling patient relations.
Qualifications
Successful applicants will be mature and well organized with pleasant personality and speaking voice. Since this position provides the patient or visitors first impression of our clinic, professional appearance, and warm, friendly demeanor. High school diploma or vocational school graduate with basic bookkeeping/cashiering knowledge or ability, and accurate typing skills. Position requires skills in verbal and written communication. Preference will be given to candidate with post high school secretarial and/or business courses, and/or previous medical office experience. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

SALARY
Starts at $15.04/hour, based on experience.

Primary Function
The Financial Counselor assists uninsured and underinsured patients with access to health services through assessing eligibility and assisting with enrollment in a variety of internal and external assistance programming as well as state sponsored benefit programs.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist uninsured and underinsured patients with the application for White House Clinics' Sliding Fee Discount Program.
- Complete registration application and registration for applicable prescription assistance/indigent drug programs.
- Serve as a Kynector for Medicaid Insurance Enrollment and maintain certification in the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). These qualifications and certificates must be renewed annually.
- Provide one-on-one financial counseling service to patients and answer questions about Medicare coverage, enrollment, and plan options, including questions and education about Qualified Health Plans (QHP).
- Assist patients in setting budget plans and reoccurring payment plans.
- Responsible for enrolling and re-enrolling patients in the Kentucky Physicians Care Program (KPC), Kentucky Children’s Insurance Program (KCHIP).
- Responsible for compliance and adherence to all White House Clinic Policies and Protocols.
- Provide superior customer service to all patients, external customers (office staff of other offices, hospital, community agencies, etc.), and co-workers. Serves as an ambassador of the White House Clinics in all conversations and interactions with these parties.
- Assists with other duties or in other departments as instructed by supervisor.
