Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for organizing and teaching courses in accordance with the catalog description, course outline and syllabus.
- Provide students in college courses with a written course outline and syllabus at the beginning of each term.
- Prepare and deliver lessons that are pedagogically sound and utilize appropriate instructional technology.
- Schedule regular office hours for advising and consultation with students.
- Maintain accurate academic records of students and submit required reports to the dean.
- Participate in the development and evaluations of the progress of learning.
- Assess and document learning outcomes at the course, program and institutional levels.
- Develop innovative methods for the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Recommend textbooks, changes in textbooks, and instructional media and equipment to the dean.
- Remain current in the scholarship of your discipline and teaching methodology.
- Serve as a faculty advisor as appointed by the appropriate dean.
- Perform special assigned duties incident to registration.
- Advise students concerning academic issues and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Serve as a member of faculty committees and attend all faculty meetings in accordance with the faculty contract.
- Assist the dean with development of short term and long-range planning goals for their discipline and/or program.
- Assist the dean with orientation, training and mentoring of part-time faculty.
- Prepare for and participate in lay advisory meetings.
- Maintain a collegial relationship with others at the college.
- Participate in professional meetings and community activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in teaching discipline; or master’s degree in a related area with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline OR Bachelor’s degree in teaching area with four years related experience
- Prior college teaching experience required, preferably in a community college setting
