Upper School Spanish Teacher The Opportunity

Webb School of Knoxville seeks an experienced Upper School Spanish Teacher who views language not merely as content to be covered, but as a gateway to connection, empathy, and global understanding. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a student-centered, proficiency-based program and who is eager to teach at least Spanish Level III, with the capacity to teach Level IV Honors and College Preparatory sections strongly preferred.

At Webb, Spanish classrooms are places where students learn to think critically, communicate confidently, and engage thoughtfully with cultures beyond their own, skills that matter long after graduation.

What You Will Do

As a member of the World Languages Department and the Upper School faculty, you will:

• Design and teach engaging, rigorous Spanish courses grounded in proficiency-based, communicative practices
• Create a classroom culture where intellectual risk-taking, curiosity, and respect are the norm
• Challenge students to grow as language learners while supporting them as developing adolescents
• Use varied assessments and feedback to promote reflection, progress, and mastery
• Collaborate to strengthen the curriculum and advance departmental goals
• Integrate technology and innovative pedagogy in the service of learning
• Build meaningful relationships with students and families through clear communication and mentorship
• Contribute actively to the life of the school as an advisor, colleague, and community member
• Model Webb’s core values of academic excellence, integrity, critical thinking, and care for others
  
  

Who You Are

You Likely Have

• A bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field (advanced degrees preferred)
• Demonstrated success teaching Spanish at the high school level
• Near-native Spanish proficiency and deep cultural knowledge
• Experience teaching or readiness to teach upper-level Spanish courses, including Level III and beyond
• A commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and continuous professional growth
• A genuine alignment with Webb School of Knoxville’s mission and values
