What You Will Do As a member of the Lower School faculty, you will:
- Design and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate library and literacy experiences
- Teach foundational research and information literacy skills in age-appropriate ways
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support and extend curricular goals
- Manage and develop a diverse, relevant library collection through thoughtful curation
- Create an environment where curiosity, exploration, and independent thinking are encouraged
- Use technology and library management tools to support access, learning, and exploration
- Build strong relationships with students and families through communication and shared celebrations of reading
- Contribute to the life of the school as a colleague, community member, and participant in school events
- Model Webb’s core values of academic excellence, integrity, curiosity, and care for others
You Likely Have
- A bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program preferred)
- Three or more years of experience working with elementary-aged students in a library or classroom setting
- Deep knowledge of children’s literature and a passion for connecting students with books
- A student-centered, developmentally informed approach to teaching and learning
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a dynamic learning space
- A commitment to collaboration, reflection, and ongoing professional growth
- A genuine alignment with Webb School of Knoxville’s mission and values
