What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preconstruction Manager position at We Search People?
We Search People are currently working with a well-established general contractor looking to bring on an experienced Commercial Pre-Construction Manager to lead their estimating function and play a key role in winning and delivering high-quality projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys owning the full preconstruction process and working on a diverse mix of commercial and federal projects.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the estimating and bidding process from concept through award
- Review drawings, specs, and project documents to define scope and costs
- Prepare detailed take-offs, budgets, and competitive bid proposals
- Manage subcontractor and supplier outreach, bid leveling, and scope alignment
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations
- Support project buyout and handoff to operations teams
- Track market trends and maintain strong subcontractor relationships
What they’re looking for:
- 10 years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor
- Experience estimating projects up to $75M
- Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, and cost development
- Proven ability to build relationships with clients and trade partners
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and digital takeoff tools
- DBIA certification (preferred, not required)
