What are the responsibilities and job description for the Precision Machining & CMM Technician position at Waupaca Foundry & Castings?
Join our overnight manufacturing team and take the lead on CNC setups, robotic cell operation, and material flow — all while safeguarding quality and safety. You’ll work the 3rd Shift (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM) on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule and receive a $2.00/hour shift differential.
Your impact- Set up and operate CNC machines; adjust offsets and change tooling to meet part specs.
- Run robots and material handling systems to keep production moving.
- Verify quality using micrometers, calipers, and gages; understand CMM reports and operate the CMM as needed.
- Interpret blueprints (metric included) and maintain conformance to tolerances.
- Diagnose production issues and participate in root-cause analysis across safety, quality, and output.
- Perform TPM checks and clean both internal and external machine surfaces.
- Transport materials with an electric pallet jack and forklift; utilize overhead cranes when required.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and 6S-compliant work area.

Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED required; machining associate’s degree preferred.
- 1–2 years of CNC machine operation preferred.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and metric measurements.
- Experience with forklifts, cranes, and electric pallet jacks.
- Robotics exposure; meticulous attention to detail; solid understanding of CNC methodology and tolerances.
- Lift 30 lbs on a continual basis and up to 50 lbs on occasion.
- Stand and/or walk for most of the 12-hour shift.
