Plant Reliability Maintenance Specialist

Picture your day at Waupaca Foundry: You arrive on a 2nd or 3rd shift, open a work order in SAP, scan Indusoft dashboards, and walk the floor. A conveyor hums off-beat—you investigate, isolate the fault, and return the line to full speed with minimal downtime. Before the shift ends, you complete a PM on a press, order parts through the system, and document every step so the next tech can pick up right where you left off.

What You’ll Own
  • Execute preventive maintenance, inspections, services, and repairs for production equipment in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
  • Support equipment installs, relocations, and machine overhauls to boost throughput and reliability.
  • Identify root causes of unexpected breakdowns and implement efficient fixes to reduce downtime.
  • Capture accurate maintenance records, time confirmations, and reports using Microsoft Office Suite, Indusoft, and SAP.
  • Maintain shop areas, tools, and parts inventory; assist contractors on special projects when needed.
  • Work during plant shutdowns, typically on weekends and holidays.
  • 2nd and 3rd shift availability required.
Role Leveling

We may hire at either the Electrical Maintenance Technician or Maintenance Mechanic level depending on your background and plant needs.

Maintenance Mechanic Focus
  • Deep-clean machines and parts; remove/reinstall components as required.
  • Lubricate and service moving elements to maintain optimal performance.
  • Repair/replace bearings, belts, chains, gear assemblies, and related mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures, support rebuilds, and assist with mechanical overhauls.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Electrical Maintenance Technician Focus
  • Troubleshoot, test, and repair electrical components and control systems on production equipment.
  • Conduct electrical inspections and preventative maintenance to code and safety standards, including lockout/tagout.
  • Diagnose motors, sensors, drives, PLCs, and control panels; install, wire, and commission new equipment and controls.
  • Read and maintain electrical schematics and documentation; strong schematic literacy required.
  • Experience with—or willingness to learn—PLCs, robotic programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Bend/install conduit (or learn on the job) and verify equipment voltage (120V–24,900V) to place systems in an electrically safe state.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Travel & Reporting
  • Minimal travel required.
  • No supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Industrial or electrical maintenance experience preferred.
  • Background in welding, fabrication, plumbing, or pipefitting preferred.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a growth mindset required.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational or community college coursework (or equivalent experience) preferred.

  • Problem Solving & Decisions: Efficiently triage equipment failures and set repair timelines for production.
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication.

  • Technical Literacy: Read blueprints/schematics; proficient with tape measure and technical documentation.
Training & Credentials
  • Participate in trainings and webinars to stay current.
  • Ability to obtain relevant certifications (e.g., welding, crane, backflow preventer, hydraulic).
Tools & Equipment
  • Hand tools; battery/electric/air tools.
  • Saws, drills, grinders, torches, welders, pipe threaders.
  • Forklift, aerial lift, overhead hoist.
  • Electrical test equipment (for Electrical Maintenance Technicians).
Work Environment
  • Work at heights on aerial lifts and catwalks with required PPE.
  • Operate in dusty/dirty environments and confined spaces using proper PPE.
  • Possible exposure to extreme heat (near molten iron/hot castings) and winter cold outdoors.
  • High-volume, fast-moving production floor.
  • Troubleshoot a range of electrical systems (Electrical Maintenance Technician).
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged standing/walking; stair and ladder climbing.
  • Bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, pinching, and kneeling.
  • Visual inspection of parts and machinery.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
