What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC/Robotics Production Operator position at Waupaca Foundry & Castings?
As a CNC/Robotics Production Operator, you’ll own the rhythm of our overnight operation. When the floor hums from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM on our 2-2-3 rotating schedule, you’re the one setting up CNCs, tending robotic cells, and keeping material moving smoothly — all while driving quality, 6S discipline, and uncompromising safety. This role includes a $2.00/hour shift differential for overnight work.
How your shift unfolds- Begin with a safety huddle, verify machine conditions, and organize your cell to 6S standards.
- Set up CNC equipment and confirm offsets; rotate and replace cutting tools as needed.
- Run production, monitor quality, and make data-driven adjustments to maintain process capability.
- Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gages; interpret CMM reports and operate the CMM when needed.
- Quickly troubleshoot production issues and support root-cause analysis for safety, quality, and throughput improvements.
- Move material with an electric pallet jack and forklift; stage and replenish to keep lines flowing.
- Complete TPM checks, clean inside and outside of machines, and document findings.

What you bring- High School Diploma or GED (required); Machining associate’s degree (preferred).
- 1–2 years operating CNC machinery (preferred).
- Comfort with blueprint reading and the metric system.
- Knowledge of CNC methodology and production troubleshooting.
- Ability to use forklifts, cranes, and electric pallet jacks.
- Experience with robots a plus; high attention to detail and strong tolerance comprehension.
- Lift 30 lbs continually and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Stand and/or walk for the entire shift.
