JOB SUMMARY
The Foreman oversees and coordinates daily production activities related to the manufacturing of pre-stressed concrete products. This role ensures that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards, production schedules, and company policies. The Foreman leads and directs production crews, manages workflow, and serves as the key link between laborers, finishers, quality control, and management. The Foreman reports to the Production Manager.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate the work of production crews engaged in forming, reinforcing, pouring, tensioning, stressing, and finishing concrete products
- Enforce safety protocols (e.g., OSHA standards)
- Ensure production schedules and quality standards are met
- Manage and mentor yard employees (laborers, finishers, crew leaders)
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training when needed
- Conduct quality checks to ensure finished products meet specifications
- Monitor usage of raw materials and tools
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair schedules
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste
- Collaborate with production planning teams
- Coordinate with QC to identify and correct product defects or inconsistencies
- Maintain records for production output, defects, and downtime
- Prepare shift reports and communicate with management
- Ordering supplies and materials, managing inventory of raw materials and consumables
- Perform take-offs on job plans for ordering materials and production per project
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in pre-stressed concrete production, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Knowledge of OSHA and site safety regulations
- Familiarity with DOT pre-stress products is a plus
- Knowledge of pre-stressed manufacturing processes. NPCA or PCI background preferred
- Experience working with the following pre-stressed concrete products (box beams, beams, columns, panels, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of concrete materials, mixing, curing, and pre-stressing methods
- Strong and attention to detail & accuracy skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and tensioning charts.
- Must be able to work independently or with a team; willingness to be flexible as needed
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with production tracking or reporting systems preferred.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires constant (70-100%) use hands to finger, hearing (listening) and observing (vision), hand/eye coordination, walking and sitting. Requires Occasional (40-69%) lifting up to 50lbs, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling and feeling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust & focus. Employee shall be able to be medically qualified by a NON-DOT or other job specific physical.
