JOB SUMMARY
The Crew Leader is responsible for leading and directs a crew in the production of pre-stressed concrete components. Oversees form setup, strand tensioning, concrete placement, curing, and de-tensioning to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. Reads and interprets blueprints, coordinates materials and equipment, and trains crew members to meet production goals. The Crew Leader may be responsible for overseeing multiple teams or crews up to 10-15 people at times. The Crew Leader reports to the Foreman.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise daily activities related to the production of pre-stressed concrete components (e.g., walls, slabs, beams, columns, panels)
- Oversee setup of forms, placement of reinforcing and tensioning strands, and concrete pouring, curing, and detensioning.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and organize work.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental regulations, and quality control procedures
- Conduct inspections of molds, reinforcements, stressing, de-tensioning, concrete mixes, and finished products for quality assurance
- Train and mentor production workers and enforce best practices
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues
- Enforce the correct use and maintenance of tools, machines, and PPE
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years in pre-stressed concrete production or construction, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of pre-stressed manufacturing processes. NPCA or PCI background preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Valid driver's license
- Familiarity with DOT pre-Stress products is a plus
- Strong and attention to detail & accuracy skills
- Strong & effective leadership and communication skills
- Must be able to work independently or with a team; willingness to be flexible as needed
- Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance
- Knowledge of OSHA and site safety regulations
- Team player with a focus on safety and precision
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and meet deadlines
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires constant (70-100%) use hands to finger, hearing (listening) and observing (vision), hand/eye coordination, walking and sitting. Requires Occasional (40-69%) lifting up to 50lbs, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling and feeling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust & focus. Employee shall be able to be medically qualified by a NON-DOT or other job specific physical.
