Senior Cloud & Systems Administrator - Houston, TX (Hybrid)
Our client is seeking a Senior Cloud & Systems Administrator to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of their hybrid IT infrastructure. This role bridges traditional systems administration (VMware, storage, Active Directory) with modern cloud engineering in Microsoft Azure. It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both hands-on technical work and shaping long-term IT strategy.
What You'll Do:
- Manage and optimize Windows server, VMware, Azure workloads, Office 365 services, and hybrid integrations.
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, VMware, Nimble storage and SQL Server.
- Drive initiatives in cloud adoption, automation, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for infrastructure issues, collaborating with security, networking, and service desk teams.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure compliance with SOC 2, ISO, and NIST frameworks.
- Document systems, mentor junior staff, and provide clear reporting on infrastructure health and costs.
What We're Looking For:
- 5 years of experience in hybrid infrastructure engineering (Azure VMware).
- Strong hands-on skills with Azure, Office 365, VMware, Nimble storage, and SQL Server.
- Proficiency in automation/scripting (PowerShell, Python, Terraform, or similar).
- Solid knowledge of AD/Azure AD, GPOs, RBAC, MFA/SSO, and DR planning.
- Certifications in Microsoft Azure, VMware, or similar are preferred.
Additional Details:
- Candidates must be local to the Houston, TX area.
- Hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite per week).
- Flexible environment supporting 24/7/365 IT operations with occasional after-hours needs.
