Our client, a well-established food manufacturing company in the bakery industry, is seeking an experienced Sanitation Manager to oversee sanitation operations within their production facility. This role will be responsible for ensuring the facility meets strict food safety and hygiene standards while leading the sanitation team and preparing the plant for internal and external audits.
The ideal candidate will bring strong food safety knowledge, leadership experience, and a hands-on approach to maintaining a clean, compliant, and efficient manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Sanitation Programs: Develop, implement, and oversee sanitation procedures that comply with food safety standards such as HACCP, GMP, BRC, and SQF.
- Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular facility inspections to ensure all equipment, surfaces, and production areas meet hygiene standards. Prepare for third-party audits and regulatory inspections.
- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and supervise sanitation staff to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. Provide training on hygiene practices, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
- Sanitation Scheduling: Manage and maintain sanitation schedules to ensure proper cleaning while minimizing production downtime.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, corrective actions, inspections, and compliance requirements.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage sanitation chemicals, cleaning supplies, and equipment to maintain proper inventory levels.
- Risk Prevention: Identify sanitation risks and implement preventive measures to avoid contamination and ensure product safety.
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years of sanitation, food safety, or quality experience in a food manufacturing environment (bakery experience preferred).
- Experience preparing for and participating in BRC or SQF audits.
- HACCP Certification (or equivalent)
- ServSafe Food Safety Certification
- OSHA Certification (preferred)
- CPR / First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, BRC, SQF, and FDA regulations
- Experience with sanitation chemicals, equipment, and cleaning procedures
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
- Experience with sanitation tracking systems and documentation
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Comfortable working with sanitation chemicals and cleaning agents
- Strong communication and training abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
