Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Residential Construction Superintendent
to oversee the day-to-day operations of high-end custom home construction projects in the Long Beach Island area. This role is critical to ensuring quality workmanship, efficient workflow, and timely project completion.
The ideal candidate is organized, solutions-focused, and committed to delivering exceptional results on the first attempt. You will work closely with a strong project management team while supervising field operations, subcontractors, and overall site performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily on-site operations and supervise subcontractors, trades, and vendors to maintain an efficient and safe work environment.
- Create and manage project schedules using construction management software.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager on budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and resource planning.
- Review and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical documents to guide all field activity.
- Manage contracts, purchase orders, and change orders using construction management platforms.
- Conduct routine site inspections to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and schedule adherence.
- Enforce OSHA guidelines and lead regular safety meetings.
- Coordinate material orders, deliveries, inspections, and trade sequencing to maintain project momentum.
- Identify potential issues early and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Communicate effectively with office staff, trades, inspectors, and clients to ensure alignment throughout the project.
- Ensure all homes meet high standards of craftsmanship, fit, and finish.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Superintendent in residential construction, ideally with high-end or custom homes.
- Strong understanding of coastal construction, local building codes, and job sequencing.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Ressio, Buildertrend, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret plans, details, and specifications.
- Experience with budgeting, estimating, cost control, and contract administration.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and uphold accountability.
- Deep knowledge of quality control best practices and construction standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and on-site safety protocols.
- Ability to anticipate needs, solve problems quickly, and remain composed under pressure.
