Project Engineer III-Sustainability

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Program: BuildLACCD Bond Program

Position Overview

This bond-funded position supports capital construction, modernization, and sustainability projects under the BuildLACCD Bond Program. The role is exclusively focused on bond-eligible activities, including planning, design, construction, commissioning, and project management of capital improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and engineering support to Project Managers and Construction Managers.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, inspectors, and college staff.
• Participate in and lead project meetings as needed.
• Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, DSA requirements, and LACCD standards.
• Review construction drawings, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Prepare project reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, and Board Action documents.
• Manage consultant and contractor performance, including invoice review and approval.
• Maintain project documentation and record drawings.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Assist with procurement activities, scope development, and consultant/contractor solicitations.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Four additional years of qualifying experience may substitute for the degree.
• Minimum 7 years of professional construction experience in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, project controls, contract administration, and change management.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

• Energy Information Systems (EIS)
• LED Lighting Upgrades
• Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Central Plant Decarbonization and Chiller Projects
• Renewable Energy, Solar PV, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS)
