This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in RMP, CalARP, and OSHA PSM programs, regulatory compliance, and technical writing. The PSM Specialist will lead projects, conduct compliance audits, and develop safety programs that ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.

A multidisciplinary engineering and environmental services firm is seeking an experienced Process Safety Management (PSM) Specialist to support its Industrial Compliance group. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in RMP, CalARP, and OSHA PSM programs, regulatory compliance, and technical writing. The PSM Specialist will lead projects, conduct compliance audits, and develop safety programs that ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute CalARP, RMP, and PSM program compliance tasks.
- Organize and facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) meetings.
- Read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for process systems with hazardous materials.
- Conduct Offsite Consequence Analyses (OCA) and compliance audits.
- Develop and maintain programs for hazardous materials and waste, including SPCCs, business plans, and training programs.
- Write and update safety programs (Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work, Contractor Safety, etc.).
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates.
- Interact with clients, assess compliance needs, and provide tailored solutions.
- Promote company services and identify new business opportunities within the industrial compliance sector.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- 6 years of relevant experience in managing or auditing CalARP/RMP/PSM programs.
- Strong understanding of EPA, OSHA, and state-level compliance regulations.
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and other hazardous process operations.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel macros a plus).
- Excellent technical writing, analytical, and project management skills.
- CHMM, CSP, CIH, CARO, or Registered Environmental Assessor.
- AiChe Process Hazard Analysis training (or equivalent).
- OSHA 10/30-hour General Industry Trainer certification.
- First Responder (Operations or Industrial Technician) certification is a plus.
