Job Title: Safety Specialist

Job Description

This role is responsible for maintaining a system to track facility inspections, safety violations, resolutions, and follow-up reports. The Safety Specialist implements key safety concepts to achieve zero injuries and world-class performance, participates in accident investigations and report preparations, and assists in monitoring employee health and safety issues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update reports tracking the status of environment, health, and safety metrics and initiatives against goals.
• Assist in implementing corporate initiatives such as metric tracking systems and training systems.
• Implement safety key concepts to provide a roadmap to zero injuries and world-class performance.
• Participate in accident investigations and preparation of accident reports.
• Monitor activities for employee health and safety issues.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of emergency action plans.

Essential Skills

• Safety knowledge, including EHS and OSHA regulations.
• Experience in safety training and health & safety initiatives.
• Organizational skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with business and functional leaders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of applicable California and Federal OSHA regulations.
• CHST, OHST, BCSP certifications.

Work Environment

The role requires regular talking and hearing, frequent standing and walking, and occasional sitting, handling, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, and smelling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The work environment is noisy and varies in temperature from hot to cold. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $38.00/hr.
