We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop and interpret engineering specifications and technical documentation used in the manufacture of precision components. This role involves research, analysis, modeling, and collaboration with internal teams and customers to ensure parts are feasible, reliable, and manufactured to exact standards. Seeking someone with specific water pump industry and CNC/laser experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering leadership, sales teams, and customers to define project objectives
- Gather dimensional and technical data using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.)
- Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and manufacturing documentation
- Develop instructions and specifications covering materials, assemblies, and testing requirements
- Guide and support junior engineers and drafters in modeling and documentation
- Apply and verify Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards
- Conduct research and mathematical analysis to validate design feasibility
- Recommend design or specification improvements to customers and internal stakeholders
- Provide technical support to customers and suppliers
- Estimate engineering requirements and costs for quoting purposes
- Prioritize and manage multiple engineering projects
- Support quality and manufacturing teams with blueprint interpretation, inspection processes, fixtures, and tooling design
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the engineering department
- Strong mechanical and conceptual problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently
- Strong time management and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software tools
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum 2 years of CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks
- Experience in industrial and mechanical applications
- Knowledge of metals, alloys, and cast components preferred
