Qualifications
- JD degree from an accredited law school and active California bar membership in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of substantive employment litigation experience
- Experience taking and defending depositions and managing discovery
- Law and motion knowledge, including experience arguing motions
- Working knowledge of California Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Court
- Strong analytical research and writing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced with developing and sustaining client relationships
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team-oriented environment
- Commitment to representing employees and protecting their rights
- Develop strategy and actively manage a caseload
- Collaborate with co-counsel and opposing counsel
- Independently draft complaints, discovery, and motions
- Communicate with clients and witnesses
- Conduct discovery, including taking and defending depositions
- Independently attend court hearings
- Draft and argue motions, including motions for class certification
- Work with expert witnesses, particularly in financial and statistical fields
- Work on and assist in trial preparations
- Manage settlement negotiations and participate in mediation
- Take cases to trial and arbitration, if necessary
