Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Radiology, and in compliance with federal, state regulations, and facility policies and procedures, the Radiology Technologist uses independent judgment and advanced technical skills to operate CT and X-Ray equipment to perform diagnostic imaging examinations ordered by physicians. This position supports departmental operations while ensuring compliance with safety, quality control, privacy, and regulatory standards.

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Radiology, and in compliance with federal, state regulations, and facility policies and procedures, the Radiology Technologist uses independent judgment and advanced technical skills to operate CT and X-Ray equipment to perform diagnostic imaging examinations ordered by physicians. This position supports departmental operations while ensuring compliance with safety, quality control, privacy, and regulatory standards.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate and perform Computed Tomography (CT) procedures while selecting appropriate equipment settings based on patient condition, tolerance, and safety requirements.
- Perform imaging procedures including bone and joint studies, vascular imaging, pulmonary embolus studies, biopsy guidance, and other diagnostic imaging exams.
- Start IVs, administer contrast as appropriate, monitor patients during procedures, and manage PACS image transfer/storage.
- Coordinate and perform general X-Ray procedures including chest, pelvis, upper/lower extremity radiographs, and related imaging studies.
- Coordinate and perform Fluoroscopy and C-arm procedures in pain management and OR settings. Assist with procedures such as Esophagram, Upper GI, and Arthrograms.
- Perform Dexa Scans including spine, hip, and forearm studies.
- Coordinate patient arrival, verify imaging orders, assess patient safety and exam tolerance, obtain informed consent, and provide patient education.
- Ensure exam rooms are cleaned and prepared appropriately for procedures.
- Enter patient and procedure data into HIS/RIS systems and complete charge entry documentation.
- Assist with maintaining department files, scheduling patients, and monitoring department inventory.
- Perform daily equipment calibration and quality assurance procedures in compliance with FDA, OSHA, NRC, and state radiologic safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records according to established federal, state, and facility requirements.
- Interact professionally with patients, physicians, radiologists, and staff to maintain a positive patient care environment.
- Follow radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure for patients and staff while ensuring proper equipment care.
- Complete image follow-up activities as needed.
- Participate in after-hours, holiday, and weekend call rotations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or completion of a 2-year Radiologic Technology program required
- ARRT certification in good standing required
- Current Wyoming Radiologic Technologist License in good standing required
- Experience with computer systems and imaging software
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and patient privacy standards
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to independently determine appropriate imaging techniques and safety measures
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to operate imaging equipment effectively and safely
- Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality
- Regular lifting and moving of objects weighing 10-50 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and handling equipment
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
- Exposure to blood/body fluids, moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, radiant energy, toxic chemicals, and biological agents
- Work performed in a fast-paced and potentially noisy healthcare environment
